In a recent development, DeSantis announced during a Miami press conference that Success Academy, a renowned charter school operator from New York City, will launch its first Florida charter school in South Florida. This initiative is part of the Schools of Hope program, devised to offer educational options beyond public institutions, especially in areas with struggling schools. Established in 2017, this program allows Hope Operators, consisting of state-approved nonprofit charter networks, to utilize school district resources.

DeSantis also touched upon ongoing investigations into university spending and operations, underscoring the importance of accountability. While he acknowledged that he had reviewed some findings specific to Gainesville, he noted that more detailed information and announcements are forthcoming as they analyze results from the investigations conducted by the DOEG teams.
