Surprise Community Event at Eisenhower Celebrates Generosity and Collaboration

In a heartwarming surprise, students and families at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School were greeted with a special visit from Houston Texans wide receiver Braxton Berrios. Partnering with the famed Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão and the nonprofit No Kid Hungry, Berrios participated in serving over 1,300 meals to the school’s community. This event marked Berrios’ inaugural community initiative since joining the Houston NFL team.

Churrasco Meals Delight Northwest Houston

In partnership with No Kid Hungry, the event featured Fogo’s renowned gauchos who served their signature churrasco meals to those present. Families from the northwest Houston community were treated to cuts of meat roasted on-site, embracing the restaurant’s authentic culinary tradition. Berrios, alongside Fogo’s enthusiastic team, engaged with students and staff, enhancing the day’s excitement.

Building Community Relations Through Sports and Service

Berrios expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s really cool to be in a position of influence, and I really try to do as much as I can to give back. Houston has been amazing and welcomed me with open arms, so this is about giving back to the community that has given so much to me.” The delight was shared among Eisenhower’s students and football team members, who cherished their time discussing meals and games with the athlete.

Fogo de Chão’s Campaign: Aiming to End Childhood Hunger

The event also highlighted Fogo de Chão’s partnership with No Kid Hungry. The ongoing campaign, running through September 30, 2025, supports childhood hunger initiatives. For every $5 donated, participants help provide 50 meals to children in need, and in appreciation, receive a $25 dining card for future visits.

A Celebratory Success for the Acres Homes Community

Eisenhower Principal James Metcalf stated, “The event was a complete success, and we’re so grateful to Fogo De Chão for making it happen!” With community leaders and members, including Emegypt’s principal figures, Superintendent Dr. LaTonya Goffney and board members, joining the celebration alongside Berrios, the event turned into a community festivity.

Fogo de Chão’s Commitment to Community Support

Barry McGowan, CEO of Fogo de Chão, added, “Braxton brings fresh momentum to our mission of reaching kids who need it most. Good, nutritious food strengthens communities, and together with No Kid Hungry, we have been fighting childhood hunger for a decade.”

The collaboration between the Houston Texans, Fogo de Chão, and No Kid Hungry demonstrated a powerful commitment to supporting local communities through nourishment and engagement. The initiative left a lasting positive impact on Eisenhower High School and the surrounding Acres Homes community.
