Despite the project’s vast scale, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge was constructed in only three years, a feat University of Calgary civil engineering professor Mamdouh El-Badry found noteworthy. He remarked that such a monumental project would typically require five to ten years, depending on various factors.
Comparing Global Landmark Bridges
The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge surpasses the previous tallest bridge, the Millau Viaduct in France, which is 8,070 feet long and nearly 1,000 feet above the Tarn River. Another impressive structure is Turkey’s Canakkale Bridge, the longest suspension bridge that spans over a mile.

With seven concrete pillars, each standing 1,125 feet tall, the structure exceeds the height of the Eiffel Tower, as noted by the European Space Agency.
