Margot Robbie Set to Star in New Pirates Movie as Jerry Bruckheimer Hints at Nicolas Cage’s Comeback in National Treasure 3

Renowned producer Jerry Bruckheimer offered thrilling updates on his major Hollywood franchises during a conversation at TheGrill 2025 conference. Bruckheimer, known for iconic series such as “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “National Treasure,” discussed the future of these beloved films and other notable projects in the pipeline.

Exciting Prospects for the Sixth “Pirates of the Caribbean” Film

During his keynote, Bruckheimer revealed that work continues on the highly anticipated sixth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. “We’re working on a script,” he told Emegypt. The producer emphasized that development will progress only once the team is satisfied with the screenplay. “If we don’t have it on the page, it’s not gonna get on the screen,” he stated.

Bruckheimer also addressed rumors about Margot Robbie’s involvement. Contrary to past reports, the producer confirmed that Robbie remains connected to the project. Additionally, franchise veteran Ted Elliott has contributed to the current script, with additional input from a new collaborator.

“National Treasure 3” Nears Fruition with Original Stars

Bruckheimer provided a promising update on “National Treasure 3,” confirming that director Jon Turteltaub and star Nicolas Cage are expected to return. The producer remains unfazed by the series’ 2022 transition to the small screen via Disney+’s “National Treasure: Edge of History.” He described the series as an opportunity to keep the franchise active and in the public consciousness.

Upcoming Projects: “F1” and “Days of Thunder” Sequels

The producer also touched on potential sequels for “F1” and the 1990 film “Days of Thunder,” noting that a writer is yet to be hired for the latter. Collaboration with “F1” writer Ehren Kruger continues, with a new draft expected soon for a “Top Gun: Maverick” sequel.

Reflecting on his franchises, Bruckheimer admitted that the “Pirates” series has been particularly challenging to sustain. However, he remains optimistic about finding the right direction for the next film.

“F1” Film and the Partnership with Apple

Bruckheimer discussed the making of the “F1” film, which grossed over $626 million globally. The collaboration with Apple played a crucial role in ensuring the film’s authenticity. Director Joseph Kosinski championed practical filming techniques and successfully integrated footage from international race tracks.

Despite challenges, including actors and writers’ strikes, the production team navigated logistical hurdles to deliver a high-impact film. The movie was released in theaters by Warner Bros., with Imax exhibition spearheaded by Kosinski.

Producer’s Continued Dedication to Filmmaking

When asked about potential setbacks, Bruckheimer dismissed concerns over external pressures, such as proposed tariffs. He emphasized the collaborative effort required to produce films, stating, “It takes an army for us to get a movie made.”

Despite his extensive career, Bruckheimer reassured attendees of his ongoing dedication to the film industry. “I hate golf,” he quipped, underscoring his passion for filmmaking over leisurely pursuits.
