Comedian Reveals Unintentional Use of Ozempic: A Cautionary Tale
Unexpected Prescription: A Comedian’s Experience with Ozempic
Chelsea Handler, the well-known comedian, recently shared a surprising anecdote about her unexpected experience with Ozempic, a medication she was prescribed unknowingly by her “anti-aging doctor.” During her appearance on the January 25, 2023 episode of Emegypt’s Call Her Daddy, Handler revealed, “I didn’t even know I was on it.” She recalled her doctor suggesting the drug as a quick method to shed a few pounds. However, the effects were not what she anticipated.
Ozempic Side Effects and Realization
Handler recounted her first encounter with the drug, explaining how it affected her. “I came back from a vacation and injected myself with it,” she said. Shortly afterward, she met a friend for lunch who disclosed being on Ozempic and feeling nauseous. Handler noted feeling similarly unwell, which she initially attributed to jet lag from her return trip from Spain.
Decision to Stop Ozempic Use
Recognizing that the medication was not medically necessary for her, Handler decided to discontinue its use. She generously passed on the remaining doses to friends who could benefit. “I’ve injected about four or five of my friends with Ozempic,” she shared, acknowledging the drug’s intended purpose. “It’s for heavier individuals. I had friends coming over, and I was like, ‘OK, I can see you at 1, I can see you at 2.'” Her story serves as a reminder about the importance of understanding prescriptions and their intended uses.
