Alberta Lockett, 86, Remembered for Her Dedication to Children and Community
Alberta Lockett, a beloved member of the Dunkirk community, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at her home after a prolonged illness. Born on December 29, 1938, Alberta was the cherished daughter of the late Mattie Simmons and James Master. Throughout her life, she was renowned for her unwavering commitment to the welfare of children.
A Legacy of Nurturing Children at Agri-Business Child Development Center
For over eight years, Alberta worked as a Teacher-Aide in the infant and toddler rooms at the Agri-Business Child Development Center, which is a part of the Head Start program located at the St. Joseph Church School in Fredonia, NY. Her passion for education and kindness left a profound impact on countless young lives.
A Devout Member of the Friendship Baptist Church
In addition to her work with children, Alberta Lockett was deeply devoted to her faith and community. As an active member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dunkirk, NY, she contributed her time and energy to various church activities, embodying the spirit of service and compassion.

Alberta’s kindness and loving nature endeared her to many. She is survived by her beloved children:

She is also remembered by her sisters, Thelma and Theresa, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Arrangements for Alberta Lockett
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Alberta’s life at her funeral service on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11 AM at the Friendship Baptist Church in Dunkirk, NY. The service will be officiated by Reverend Earl Wallace. Prior to the service, relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, located at 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY, on Friday, October 10, from 3-6 PM.
Alberta Lockett’s legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dunkirk, NY.
