Television Partnership with FOX9 Continues
In a continuing partnership with FOX9, Minnesota will broadcast seven home games during their 2025-26 non-conference schedule. Each broadcast includes a 30-minute pre-game show, sponsored by M Health Fairview, and a post-game analysis by RBC Wealth Management.
Conference Success and Banner-Raising
The Gophers celebrate a shared victory in the 2024-25 Big Ten Conference Championship with Michigan State, marking their seventh title record in the league’s history. This historic season adds another triumph to Minnesota’s illustrious hockey legacy.
Strong Start Expected
The Minnesota Golden Gophers boast an impressive all-time record in opening games, having secured a 65-37-2 performance. Last year’s season began with a convincing 7-1 victory over Air Force, and a 70-31-3 record in home openers suggests continued success at the 3M Arena.
Rising Star Luke Mittelstadt
Luke Mittelstadt stands out as Minnesota’s representative on the 2025-26 Preseason All-Big Ten Teams, earning second-team honors. Having previously earned honorable mention recognition, he contributes to the team’s aim for a top-three finish in the coaches’ poll.
Key Returners Spark Offense
The potent trio of Brody Lamb, Brodie Ziemer, and Jimmy Clark leads Minnesota’s offensive charge this season. Together, they are pivotal as the Gophers look to navigate the challenges of the upcoming matches with skill and precision.
Spotlight on Michigan Tech
Returning to 3M Arena for the first time since 2011, Michigan Tech aims to make a strong impression. Under new head coach Bill Muckalt, with a roster packed with fresh talent, the Huskies are poised to make waves this season despite recent struggles.
Historical Rivalry Rekindled
Minnesota’s history against Michigan Tech is extensive, with an impressive 174-78-15 record. While it’s been over a decade since these teams last faced off, the anticipation for continuing this rivalry is palpable.
Leadership and Team Dynamics
As the Gophers prepare for the season, leadership plays a central role with seniors Brody Lamb, Luke Mittelstadt, and Cal Thomas wearing the captain’s ‘C’. Their collective experience is invaluable as Minnesota faces a challenging season ahead.
Adjusting to New Lineups
The departure of key players to the NHL leaves gaps, but it opens opportunities for new talent to rise. The Gophers aim to strategically fill offensive roles and maintain their competitive edge as they navigate the upcoming schedule challenges.
Challenging Schedule Ahead
This season, the Gophers will face one of the nation’s toughest schedules. With 25 games against teams ranked in the USCHO preseason poll, the team is gearing up for an intense competitive journey with enough tests to strengthen their skills.
Minnesota’s Hockey Legacy
Renowned as the “State of Hockey,” Minnesota continues to contribute significantly to Division I talent. The Gophers are proud to have a multitude of local players, reinforcing the state’s passion and tradition in the sport.
New Faces Eager to Shine
With a younger lineup this season, the Gopher’s reliance on emerging talent positions them well for the future. A fresh group of NCAA rookies will bring energy and potential to drive the team’s success across forthcoming competitions.
Pathway to Professional Success
With a strong presence in the NHL, Minnesota continues to be a cradle for professional talent. An impressive number of alumni participate in the NHL each season, reinforcing the university as a premier training ground for future pro hockey stars.
