The 10-year, $115 million agreement underscores the venue’s importance as a hub for basketball and entertainment.
Partnership with United Wholesale Mortgage
Owned by Mat Ishbia, United Wholesale Mortgage now serves not only as a major sponsor but also as the official mortgage partner of the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and Valley Suns. Ishbia, who acquired the Suns and Mercury for a record $4 billion in February 2023, expressed enthusiasm for the alignment.
“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to excellence,” Ishbia said. He emphasized the potential for connecting mortgage brokers with consumers, enhancing their homeownership experience.
A Hub for Sports and Entertainment
In addition to hosting the Suns and Mercury, the Mortgage Matchup Center will continue to be a destination for concerts and entertainment, drawing more than two million visitors annually. Upcoming highlights include the Women’s Final Four in 2026 and the NBA All-Star Game in 2027.
The venue’s history dates back to its opening in 1992 as America West Arena and has undergone several name changes before finding its latest identity. The strategic location at 201 E. Jefferson St. ensures it remains central to Phoenix’s vibrant sports culture.
