ST. CHARLES, Mo. – In a tightly contested match, the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball team faced Lindenwood. Despite a spirited effort, UT Martin fell short, losing 3-1 with scores of 17-25, 25-18, 26-28, and 19-25.

Key Players Showcase Noteworthy Performances

Several players stood out for the Skyhawks. Kayla Bryant delivered a double-double with 13 kills, 12 digs, and a match-high four service aces. Teammate Kylie Surratt also impressed with 11 kills and a team-best 14 digs. Abby Freund contributed 14 digs, while Ava Peters excelled with a match-best 35 assists, five kills, and five digs. Kristin Phillips and Maddy Gladson also made significant impacts, each hitting season-highs in blocks and kills, respectively.

  • First Set: Gladson initiated a promising start for the Skyhawks with two early kills. Despite a strong initial lead, Lindenwood’s 14-4 run put them ahead. Gladson completed the set with four kills on a .444 hitting percentage.
  • Second Set: UT Martin dominated, never trailing, and led by as many as eight points. Kayla Bryant’s back-to-back aces contributed to a solid lead, helping the Skyhawks secure the set win at 25-18.
  • Third Set: Marked by 10 ties and nine lead changes, this set was fiercely competitive. Despite having set point at 24-21, UT Martin could not outlast Lindenwood, who won the set 28-26.
  • Fourth Set: The Lions started strong with a 5-1 lead. Although UT Martin managed to tie the score at 7-7 with Bryant’s service aces, Lindenwood regained control with a decisive run, closing the match with a 25-19 victory.
