Doak Campbell Stadium Welcomes Professional Bull Riders in New Events Venture

Florida State University’s Doak Campbell Stadium is undergoing a transformation, part of a $265 million renovation project, aimed at hosting more than just football games. As part of these efforts, the stadium will welcome the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event on March 13-14, 2026, marking an exciting new chapter in the venue’s history.
Exciting Events Planned for Doak Campbell Stadium
FSU’s strategy involves diversifying the types of events held at Doak Campbell Stadium. The addition of non-football events is poised to make the stadium a year-round hub of activity. One of the standout events is the PBR, which is set to transform the stadium into a vibrant arena for bull riding and live entertainment.
Transforming the Stadium: The Logistics
Turning Doak Campbell Stadium into a bull riding arena is no small feat. The transformation will involve bringing in 5.5 million pounds of dirt to cover about 30,000 square feet of Bobby Bowden Field. Additional sound, video, and lighting setups will enhance the atmosphere, creating a thrilling experience for all attendees.
Beyond Bull Riding: Concerts and Entertainment
Each night of the PBR event will conclude with a concert from a major music act, providing additional entertainment and drawing larger crowds. This combination of sports and music aims to attract a diverse audience, enhancing the community’s engagement with the stadium.
PBR’s “Unleash the Best” Series Comes to Tallahassee
The PBR event at Doak Campbell Stadium is part of the league’s prestigious “Unleash the Best” series. The event will be the 13th of 18 stops in the 2026 premier individual tour, each contributing points that help riders qualify for the PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas. Participants will aim to stay atop the bucking bulls for eight intense seconds, showcasing their skills and determination.
FSU’s Vision for Doak Campbell Stadium
Michael Alford, FSU’s Vice President and Athletics Director, envisions turning Doak Campbell Stadium into a consistent revenue stream throughout the year. His commitment to creating “dirt season” from January to April reflects FSU’s dedication to attracting diverse events that appeal to both the local community and visitors.
