Raiders Cut Linebacker Pratt Following Just Four Games

Las Vegas Raiders Release Linebacker Germaine Pratt Amid Team Reshuffle
Las Vegas Raiders Opt for New Direction
In a recent announcement, the Las Vegas Raiders have parted ways with linebacker Germaine Pratt. The decision follows Pratt’s absence from the team’s travel for their recent game against the Indianapolis Colts, which ended in a decisive 40-6 loss. Raiders’ coach Pete Carroll disclosed that the team is pursuing a new approach, leading to Pratt’s release.
Germaine Pratt’s Impact on the Field
During his brief stint with the Raiders, Pratt participated in four games, recording 25 tackles and four run stuffs. He primarily served as a weakside linebacker, forming a rotational partnership with Jamal Adams and Devin White. The trio, along with middle linebacker Elandon Roberts, often shared the field in various defensive setups.
Strengths in Coverage
Pratt distinguished himself with his coverage skills, a key asset for the Raiders. Across 105 coverage snaps, he conceded only 74 yards, holding a passer rating of 70.7 on 13 targets when he was the nearest defender. In comparison, Devin White allowed 11 catches for 107 yards and a passer rating of 82.2 over 149 coverage snaps.
A Look Back at Pratt’s Career
Before joining the Raiders, Pratt signed a one-year, $4.25 million contract in June after his release from the Cincinnati Bengals. During his six seasons with the Bengals, Pratt was instrumental in back-to-back AFC North titles and two AFC Championship Game appearances in 2021 and 2022. Over his 96 career games, including 88 starts, he amassed impressive statistics with 616 tackles, 23 pass breakups, 7 forced fumbles, and 7 interceptions.
Pratt’s Career-Best Season
In 2024, Pratt achieved a career milestone with an extraordinary performance, recording 143 tackles, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. Despite his individual successes, the team’s strategical needs have led to Pratt’s departure as the Raiders realign their defensive strategy.
