Broadcast Tribute and Funeral Services Announced for President Russell M Nelson

President Russell M. Nelson, esteemed leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away at the age of 101 on September 27, 2025. In his memory, a special broadcast titled “A Tribute to Russell M. Nelson” will take place on October 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. MDT. The global event, available via ChurchofJesusChrist.org, YouTube, BYUtv, and KSL, will feature messages from numerous Church leaders and a performance by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

Honoring a Remarkable Leader’s Legacy

The tribute to President Nelson, who was one of the world’s oldest leaders of a major faith organization, will be accessible in 13 languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, American Sign Language, and English. The public is encouraged to view the live stream and celebrate the life and accomplishments of a revered spiritual figure.

Details of Public Services for President Nelson

  • October 6: A public viewing is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. Visitors of all ages are welcome.
  • October 7: A public funeral service will take place at the Conference Center on Temple Square at 12 p.m. MDT, open to individuals aged 8 and older. Tickets for the funeral, required for entrance, will be available starting October 2 at 10 a.m. The doors to the building will open at 10:30 a.m., with seating no later than 11:30 a.m.

Global Reach of Funeral Services

The funeral services, broadcasted on a global scale via ChurchofJesusChrist.org, YouTube, BYUtv, and KSL, will include translations in multiple languages such as ASL, Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and more. The Church office buildings on the Temple Square campus will be closed during the funeral from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Continuing President Nelson’s Legacy

President Nelson’s tenure, which began on January 14, 2018, marked him as the 17th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A private burial will follow the public funeral.
