Online Trolls Drive Cameron Menzies Off Social Media Following Costly Defeat

Title: Cameron Menzies Opens Up on Social Media Pressure After Darts Defeats

Cameron Menzies, known for his passionate demeanor on the darts stage, has recently shared his struggle with online criticism following losses. This revelation sheds light on the challenges professional players face beyond the dartboard.

Challenging Social Media Atmosphere for Professional Players

Menzies, a two-time PDC title winner, highlighted the harsh realities players encounter in the digital age. In an interview with Emegypt at the 2026 Unicorn Launch, Menzies disclosed his routine of disconnecting from social media after a defeat to escape the barrage of negativity and unwarranted accusations.

“Social media can be a toxic environment,” he explained. “Immediately after a loss, I delete the apps and take a break. It’s an unpleasant place when you receive false accusations, despite consistently proving myself through various tests. To cope, I distance myself from it when necessary.”

Impact of Criticism on Professional Performance

The pressure extends beyond games, as Menzies frequently encounters messages accusing him of throwing matches, impacting his mental well-being. “The accusations of losing on purpose or affecting bets are baseless,” Menzies said. “Every game requires immense effort, and losing costs me more than any wager. Yet, the unfounded claims persist.”

Menzies emphasized that hard-earned achievements in his career reinforce his integrity, dispelling assumptions made online. He expressed frustration over online claims of match-fixing, stating, “I’ve worked hard to reach this level, and risking it with dishonesty is not an option.”

Struggles with Consistency on the Oche

Despite proven skills, Menzies admits to battling inconsistency. This year, he reached two Euro Tour quarter-finals and the Grand Slam last-eight in 2024. However, performances can vary, as seen during his World Series of Darts Finals game against Chris Dobey.

Reflecting on a fluctuating career, Menzies said, “Performances are unpredictable. One moment it’s great, the next it’s challenging. My game against Dobey was disappointing, marked by missed opportunities and fatigue from extensive travel.”

Looking Forward to Future Success

Despite his ups and downs, Menzies remains optimistic about regaining top form. Already this year, he has doubled his PDC titles and looks to further his success with determination and resilience. The road ahead involves balancing professional pressures while striving for greater achievements in the darts world.
