Title: Anticipation Grows for Kaamelott Sequel as Alexandre Astier Reveals Film Insights
Kaamelott Fans Eagerly Await the Sequel
With just two weeks to go before the release of the highly anticipated Kaamelott sequel in theaters, director Alexandre Astier has satiated some fan curiosity. The Kaamelott community has been buzzing with theories about why the beloved character Perceval, played by Franck Pitiot, is absent from the upcoming film.
Franck Pitiot’s Absence: Reasons Remain Unclear
In a recent conversation with Samuel Etienne on his Twitch channel on October 8, Astier addressed the speculation. He revealed that Perceval was initially part of the script, but Franck Pitiot chose not to return. The director didn’t elaborate on Pitiot’s reasons, simply stating that it required some script revisions.
The Mystery Surrounding Perceval’s Role
Astier acknowledged that this development has intrigued fans, adding an air of mystery by stating, “If Franck Pitiot is not in the film, it’s a bit more complicated for Perceval, but I can’t say more.” Nonetheless, Jean-Christophe Hembert, who plays Karadoc, remains part of the film lineup, maintaining a connection to the original series.
Proud Moments and Highlights of the Upcoming Release
Astier shared insights into the second part of this cinematic journey, which will hit theaters on October 22. He is particularly proud of a scene featuring an inspiring speech by Arthur at the round table, which he believes will resonate with viewers.
No Pressure Over Audience Numbers
Despite the anticipation, Astier is unconcerned about audience numbers. Reflecting on the 2.5 million admissions of the first installment, achieved during a period of sanitary restrictions in summer 2021, he states, “If it fails, it fails. I am content with the outcome.”
Filming Locations and Future Prospects
Part of the sequel was filmed in the picturesque Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, including Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Loire, Haute-Loire, and Rhône. Astier hinted at a potential third installment, expressing a desire for the cast to age gracefully into their roles, particularly a “good head of an old king.” Beyond the world of Kaamelott, he envisions creating a new series.
