Jump from NCAA to NHL: Lachance Embarks on Devils Journey
Lachance’s Rise to New Jersey Devils Roster
At just 22, Lachance is making significant strides in his hockey career by transitioning from the NCAA to the NHL, securing a spot on the New Jersey Devils roster. His preseason performance was promising, with two points from one goal and one assist in mere two games despite recovering from an injury. Last season, the forward demonstrated his skills at Boston University, amassing 30 points through 12 goals and 18 assists over 40 games.
Lachance’s Draft and Trade History
Initially selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the sixth round (No. 186) during the 2021 NHL Draft, Lachance was traded to New Jersey on March 2, 2025. As he adapts to the NHL, Lachance maintains a focused attitude. “It’s the NHL, it’s the best league in the world, and I just try to come in with a good mindset, work hard every day,” Lachance shared on Friday. “Taking it day-by-day is key, always ready for any challenges,” he added.
Martin’s Promising Future with Nashville Predators
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old Martin, who was Nashville’s No. 5 overall pick in the 2025 draft, has gained attention by training alongside veterans Filip Forsberg and Ryan O’Reilly. Martin accumulated three points in four preseason games and shined last season with 72 points in 57 games for the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste. Marie. “His performance in camp was remarkable,” said Predators coach Andrew Brunette. “He earned his spot, and we’re all very excited for his potential.”
Nyman’s Transition to NHL Full-Time Role
Nyman is poised for a full-time NHL role following an impressive stint with the AHL’s Coachella Valley, where he scored 44 points in 58 games. He further contributed six points during his 12-game run with the Seattle Kraken last season. This preseason, he led the team with five points in five games. Selected in the second round (No. 49) of the 2022 draft, Nyman will likely begin the season in a bottom-six position. Seattle GM Jason Botterill praised Nyman’s attributes: “His size and shot are exactly what we want on our team.”
