Coronation Street Stars and Love Island Duo Join Manchester Half Marathon Event

Manchester Half Marathon Set to Shine with Celebrity Participants
This Sunday, the much-anticipated Manchester Half Marathon will draw approximately 26,000 runners, including a notable lineup of celebrities. The 13.1-mile route will start and end in Old Trafford, passing through areas like Sale, Chorlton, Whalley Range, Hulme, and the Manchester city center.
A Star-Studded Lineup
This year’s race will see familiar faces from shows like Coronation Street, along with popular Radio 1 DJs, taking part. Harriet Bibby, known for her role as Summer Spellman, will join her co-stars Calum Lill and Channique Sterling-Brown. The Traitors’ Diane Carson, The Apprentice’s Camilla Ainsworth, and Gladiators’ semi-finalist Aneila Afsar are also set to race, with Afsar aiming for a personal best while pushing a pram.

Exciting Roles and Unique Challenges
Sky Sports pundit and former England football star Izzy Christiansen will motivate participants as the official Event Starter. Several runners aim to set Guinness World Records during the race, with Sophie Godley striving to break the Fastest Half Marathon Carrying Golf Clubs (Female) record. Meanwhile, Wharfedale Harriers members will attempt the Fastest Half Marathon in a Four-Person Costume dressed as a giant caterpillar.
Elite Athletes and First-Time Records
Additionally, elite athletes like British long-distance runners Lily Partridge and Charlotte Purdue will compete for the Women’s title, while three-time Paralympic gold medallist Lauren Rowles takes on the Women’s Elite Wheelchair category.
For the first time in the event’s history, the participant demographic will include an equal number of men and women, with 35% of women making their half marathon debut. Andrew Smith, Chief Executive of event organizer A.S.O. UK, expressed pride in the event’s growth, which supports hundreds of charities and boosts the local economy while fostering a sporting legacy.
