Taran Armstrong Takes His Talents to Dubai Basketball

Taran Armstrong Signs with Dubai Basketball in United Arab Emirates

San Francisco fans will not see Taran Armstrong return to the Bay Area as the standout Australian point guard has inked a deal with Dubai Basketball in the United Arab Emirates. Reports confirmed the signing, which marks Armstrong’s next step in his professional basketball journey.

Warriors Maintain Negotiating Rights for Taran Armstrong

Despite his new contract overseas, the Golden State Warriors retain Taran Armstrong’s exclusive NBA negotiating rights, thanks to a qualifying offer extended to the 6-foot-5 guard in June. Armstrong joined the Warriors’ organization in February and showcased his skills in 11 games for Santa Cruz, though he did not participate in the main roster’s regular season or playoff games.

A Promising Career from Cal Baptist to the EuroLeague

Armstrong gained recognition after winning the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year award at Cal Baptist in 2022. His promising start led to a professional stint in Australia, ultimately paving the way for his NBA Summer League success. In July, Armstrong averaged 7.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists across five Summer League games in Las Vegas and San Francisco, crediting Golden State’s veterans for his improvement.

Armstrong’s Future with EuroLeague Experience

Previously associated with Serbian club KK Partizan, Taran Armstrong will now play in the EuroLeague alongside Dubai Basketball. This new role is expected to highlight his talents on the court, positioning him as a key player for the team. The move contrasts with his potential role with the Warriors, who have focused on developing younger talent and enhancing their roster.

  • Seth Curry joins the Warriors alongside his brother, Steph Curry.
  • Brandin Podziemski, a Santa Clara alumnus, is set for an expanded role.
  • Will Richard, a draft pick from Florida, and Buddy Hield bolster the roster as well.

With this strategic overseas move, Taran Armstrong aims to further develop his career in the EuroLeague, a highly competitive international basketball platform.
