Beyries Releases a New Album Inspired by the Impact of Donald Trump’s Election

New Album “Reprises” by Amélie Beyries Emerges from Unique Inspiration
The Musical Beginnings of “Reprises”
Amélie Beyries, a celebrated artist, introduces her first cover album, “Reprises,” a project that traces its roots back to the election of Donald Trump in November 2024. This period, marked by heightened global tensions, prompted Beyries to find solace in the music that defined her adolescence. Fond memories of biking with friends and enjoying the carefree days of her youth, accompanied by the sounds of icons like Alanis Morissette, R.E.M., and Nirvana, served as the catalyst for this creative endeavor.
A Musical Advent on Instagram
Inspired by her nostalgic reflections, Beyries launched a “musical Advent calendar” for her Instagram followers from December 1 to 24, featuring daily acoustic covers of notable songs. This series eventually inspired the album “Reprises,” showcasing nine acoustic reinterpretations of songs by Richard Desjardins, Def Leppard, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Mylène Farmer, R.E.M., ABBA, Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers, and Cat Stevens.
Intriguing Song Selections
The selection process for the album was a meticulous one, focusing on arrangements that highlight a guitar-voice or piano-voice format, emphasizing intimacy. While tracks like “Losing My Religion” and “Le cœur est un oiseau” were natural choices, others, like “Love Bites,” posed initial reservations due to their lyrical content. Ultimately, with some creative exploration, these tracks found a harmonious place within the album’s collection.
An Unexpected Discovery
“Désenchantée,” a hit by Mylène Farmer, was another pleasant surprise. Stripped down to its core, the song reveals its powerful lyrics, which Beyries discovered anew. “At 14, I didn’t focus much on the lyrics, but revisiting it now, the writing stood out as remarkable,” she notes.
Future Prospects and Musical Growth
Beyries expresses profound satisfaction with her cover album journey, highlighting her personal and artistic growth throughout the project. Fans can look forward to more cover albums in the future, and her social media followers might see another iteration of her musical Advent calendar this year. While she continues to embrace covers, Beyries remains committed to original compositions, with hopes of releasing a new album by the fall of 2026.
“Reprises” by Amélie Beyries will be available for purchase starting Friday, October 10, exclusively through Emegypt.
