Sabres Forward Norris Expected to Miss Significant Time Due to Injury

Buffalo Sabres’ Josh Norris Facing Extended Absence Due to Injury
Josh Norris Injury Impact on Sabres
Buffalo Sabres forward Josh Norris is expected to miss a significant period due to an upper-body injury. Head coach Lindy Ruff shared the news on Saturday, indicating that Norris is still undergoing evaluation to determine the exact duration of his absence. The injury occurred during a faceoff in last Thursday’s game against the New York Rangers, ending in a 4-0 loss for the Sabres.
Injury Details and Comparison to Previous Setbacks
Norris, aged 26, was visibly in pain after the faceoff incident and did not return to the game. Coach Ruff confirmed that this injury is not related to the mid-body injury Norris sustained last season, which also kept him out of play. The latest setback raises concerns due to his history of injuries.
Josh Norris’ Career and Recent Acquisitions
Norris joined the Sabres, along with defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker, following a trade with the Ottawa Senators last year. In exchange, the Sabres traded forward Dylan Cozens, defenseman Dennis Gilbert, and a draft pick. Last season, Norris managed to secure 21 goals and 35 points in 56 appearances split between the Senators and the Sabres.
Norris’ Consistent Battle with Injuries
The Oxford, Michigan native has struggled with injuries throughout his career. Unfortunately, he has yet to play more than 66 games in any of his six NHL seasons. Over 240 matches with both the Senators and Sabres, Norris has accumulated 91 goals and 158 points.
Replacement and Team Strategy
In light of Norris’s absence, the Sabres have recalled forward Josh Dunner from the AHL’s Rochester Americans. This strategic move aims to fill the gap in their lineup as the team navigates the ongoing season.
