Cervelo Dominates in Women’s IRONMAN 2025 World Championship Bike Count
Top Performing Bike Brands at the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship
Cervelo emerged as the leading choice among participants in the women’s 2025 IRONMAN World Championship, with 328 competitors selecting their bikes for the prestigious event. The battle for the second spot proved tight, with Canyon clinching the runner-up position, narrowly ahead of Trek. Quintana Roo made a notable impact as the only other brand outside the top three, with 132 riders trusting their bicycles for the race.
Insights Into Popular Bike Accessories
In terms of aerobars, Profile Design continues to lead with a substantial presence, appearing on nearly a third of all bikes. In contrast, Trek bikes mostly featured Bontrager setups, contributing to their second-place finish. Meanwhile, Canyon bikes often sport Canyon-branded bars.
Shimano components dominated the drivetrain category, outfitting two-thirds of the field, while SRAM secured a strong second-place position. The use of road helmets over aero helmets marked a surprising trend, with the former being chosen by around twice as many athletes, possibly validating Taylor Knibb’s earlier selection.
Hydration and Other Key Equipment Counts
Front hydration systems saw Profile Design slightly edge out X-Lab, with many using the older Aero Drink system. X-Lab, however, remained the preferred choice for rear hydration needs, prominently featuring the Gorilla cage and the Gorilla XT.
In the pedal market, Shimano maintained its leading position, although Assioma and Garmin also showed significant presence in pedals compatible with Shimano’s or Look’s standards. Power meters saw Quarq lead despite close competition.
Triathlon Equipment Decisions and Surprises
ISM saddles remained the top choice among participants, followed by Selle Italia, notably with their singular Watt model. Interestingly, nearly half of Trek’s competitors opted for Bontrager saddles, demonstrating the brand’s strong influence.
In wheel selections, DT Swiss led the way, marking another victory along with their previous success in Nice, followed by Zipp. The trend suggests athletes are opting to stick with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specification wheels rather than purchasing them as upgrades.
