Food Safety Alert in Ireland: Beef and Chicken Products Recalled Due to Undeclared Ingredients
Undeclared Ingredients in Popular Ready Meals Prompt Urgent Recall in Ireland
Shoppers in Ireland are being cautioned as a popular ready meal has been pulled from shelves due to potential health risks. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued a recall for Fit Foods Beef and Mash with Pepper Sauce, after discovering it contains undeclared allergens. These include sesame, soya, and celery, which pose risks to individuals with allergies or intolerances.
The affected product is sold in 400g packs at major retailers such as Tesco and Dunnes Stores, carrying the batch code 2528101 and a use-by date of October 20, 2025. Consumers with allergies to the mentioned ingredients are advised to avoid consuming the product.
Nationwide Chicken Product Recall Due to Labeling Errors
This recall follows an urgent advisory from the FSAI concerning several types of chicken products available in supermarkets across the country. Specifically, Pekish chicken goujons, nuggets, and breaded fillets have been recalled due to incorrect cooking instructions, which could lead to food safety risks.
- Pekish chicken goujons: All use-by dates up to October 14, 2025
- Pekish chicken nuggets: All use-by dates up to October 16, 2025
- Pekish breaded chicken fillets: All use-by dates up to October 18, 2025
Retailers have been instructed to remove these products from sale and place recall notices at the point-of-sale, while wholesalers and distributors are advised to contact customers regarding the recall.
Earlier Recalls for Cheese and Onion Crisps Over Dairy Allergen Concerns
Last week, a recall affected a batch of cheese and onion-flavored crisps due to undeclared milk. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) highlighted that One Stop Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps could pose a health risk to those with milk allergies or intolerances. Affected individuals are advised to return the 150g packs to the purchase location for a full refund. The concerned products have best before dates of February 17, 18, and 23, 2026.
