Georgia Football Extends Contracts for Glenn Schumann and Five Other Assistants in Offseason Moves
Georgia football has extended the contracts of defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann and five other assistant coaches. These moves come as part of strategic offseason decisions by the Bulldogs.
Contract Extension for Glenn Schumann
Defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann received a contract extension through June 30, 2028. His annual salary is currently $2.003 million, with scheduled increases to $2.103 million by July 1, 2026, and $2.203 million by July 1, 2027. Schumann, in his third season as the defensive coordinator, has been part of Kirby Smart’s staff for a decade. Previously, he served as co-defensive coordinator in 2022.
Other Coaching Staff Extensions
- Wide Receivers Coach: James Coley, contracted until June 30, 2027.
- Offensive Line Coach: Stacy Searles, contracted until June 30, 2027.
- Co-Defensive Coordinator: Travaris Robinson, contracted until June 30, 2028.
- Defensive Line Coach: Tray Scott, contracted until June 30, 2028.
- Defensive Backs Coach: Donte Williams, contracted until June 30, 2028.
Tray Scott will receive salary increments before the next season, with his pay rising to $1.225 million on July 1, 2026, and $1.250 million by July 1, 2027. Donte Williams will see his salary increase from $853,000 in 2025 to $903,000 by July 1, 2027.
Georgia’s Defensive Performance
Georgia’s defense ranked 23rd in the nation last season in scoring defense, allowing 20.6 points per game. This season, they are 32nd, allowing 18.4 points per game. In total defense, they ranked 30th last season with an average of 329.9 yards per game and are currently ranked 32nd, allowing 313.2 yards per game.
Additional Staff Promotion
Andrew Thacker was promoted from defensive quality control coach to Nickel/Star coach this offseason. Thacker, a former Georgia Tech defensive coordinator, is now under contract through June 30, 2027, with an annual salary of $400,000.
