Minami Katsu showcased an exceptional performance at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, setting a new course record. The 27-year-old from Japan achieved an impressive 11-under 61 during Friday’s round at Qizhong Garden Golf Club. This remarkable feat gave her a two-shot lead at the tournament’s halfway point.
Impressive Front Nine Performance
Katsu delivered a captivating front nine with six birdies. A minor setback came with a bogey on the par-4 10th, but she swiftly recovered, finishing with six more birdies. Her total score stood at 13-under 131 after two rounds as she pursued her inaugural tour win.
Breaking Records
The round also propelled her past the previous 18-hole record held by Sei Young Kim. Katsu expressed her satisfaction with the achievement but maintained focus on the remaining two tournament days.
