Greens Close Gap to Labour with Zack Surge Gaining Momentum

The Green Party is experiencing significant momentum in recent polling, now just two points behind both the Labour Party and the Conservatives. The latest figures from Find Out Now reveal that the Greens have surged to 15%, trailing the Labour Party and Conservatives, both at 17%. Reform leads with 32%, having lost three points since the last poll.
Key Developments in Green Party Polling
Under the leadership of Zack Polanski, the Green Party has seen a four-point increase in support within a week. This surge marks the highest polling figure ever recorded for the Greens, according to Election Maps UK.
Polling Insights
- Green Party: 15%
- Labour Party: 17%
- Conservatives: 17%
- Reform: 32% (down three points)
- Lib Dems: 12% (according to Find Out Now)
Despite the Greens’ rising popularity, traditional media outlets often neglect them. Notably, party leader Zack Polanski was the only leader not interviewed by Laura Kuenssberg on her Sunday show.
Membership Growth
In addition to polling success, the Green Party is outpacing the Liberal Democrats in terms of membership. The Greens now boast 95,000 members, gaining an impressive 5,000 new registrations in just one day. By comparison, the Lib Dems hold 83,174 members. The Green’s membership has surged by 30,000 since their last leadership election, reflecting a growth of nearly 50%.
This increase in support indicates a shift among voters disenchanted with traditional politics, particularly following the 2010 Conservative-Lib Dem coalition, which many perceived as a neoliberal compromise.
Looking Ahead to Future Elections
The results from the 2024 elections provide a solid foundation for the Green Party’s future. They secured four MPs and finished second in 40 constituencies. Additionally, they garnered over 10% of the vote in 108 different seats, a marked increase from just 18 seats in 2015, and exceeded 20% in 15 seats, up from only two in the prior election.
As the Green Party continues to gain traction, their progressive message may resonate with increasingly disillusioned voters, positioning them as a significant force in future elections.
