Urgent flood warning for Grand North Strand and Pee Dee counties and surrounding areas

An urgent flash flood warning is in effect for multiple counties in South Carolina and nearby areas. Residents of Marion, Horry, Dillon, Robeson, and Columbus counties are advised to exercise caution as the warning remains active until 11 p.m.
Rescue Operations in Columbus County
Columbus County’s emergency services have been busy with several rescues. Many individuals were saved from vehicles stuck in floodwaters. Numerous roads remain impassable due to areas submerged under deep water.
Rainfall Details
- 3 to 6 inches of rain have fallen in the past six hours.
- Isolated locations reported even higher rainfall amounts.
Coastal Flood Advisory
A coastal flood advisory is also in place. Inundation of up to half a foot is expected near shorelines and tidal waterways. This is linked to the King Tides, with high tide occurring at 12:45 p.m.
Weather Patterns
Chief Meteorologist Jamie Arnold identified two separate storms contributing to the conditions. The main storm heads toward the Outer Banks, while a secondary storm off the Grand Strand brings heavy rainfall. This secondary low-pressure system is moving slowly, extending the period of intense rainfall.
