Pokémon GO introduces rewards for playing with distant friends
A new feature in Pokémon GO will allow players to earn rewards by collaborating with distant friends. Traditionally, Pokémon GO has emphasized in-person cooperation, despite remote raid options. Weekly Challenges: A New Adventure
This new dynamic will launch on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 3:00 AM. Players can find it under the “Groups” tab, replacing the current “Team” section. By selecting your avatar on the map, the new tab becomes accessible.
How It Works
- Every Monday at 2:00 AM, a fresh weekly challenge will be available.
- Players have seven days to complete it with up to three friends.
- The challenge participants don’t need to be local.
- An example task is “Spin 250 PokéStops or Gyms.”
- Players can only be in one group and complete one challenge per week.
Rewards for Success
Upon completing a weekly challenge, participants gain:
- Additional friendship level progress
- 20,000 experience points
- 6,000 stardust
Even without completing the challenge, players still receive a small amount of stardust.
New Group Finder Feature
Pokémon GO will introduce a group finder by the end of the year. This feature will assist players in connecting with others for the weekly challenges, even if they aren’t already friends.
