Eight individuals of Indian descent have been detained in Canada for their involvement in a mail theft operation. The accused are facing over 300 charges, with some potentially facing deportation. Authorities recovered more than 450 items of stolen mail, which included credit cards and cheques, valued at more than CAD 400,000. Operation “Project Undeliverable”

The Peel police, in conjunction with Halton police and Canada Post, initiated a joint effort known as “Project Undeliverable.” This operation began in April to address numerous mail theft incidents in the region. The investigation revealed a coordinated effort by a group targeting residential mailboxes, causing significant disruption to local communities.

Search Warrants and Recovery

In September, investigators executed search warrants leading to the recovery of 465 items of stolen mail. These included:

  • 255 cheques
  • 182 credit cards
  • 35 government IDs
  • 20 gift cards

The suspects, aged between 21 and 29, have been identified as:

  • Jashandeep Jattana
  • Harman Singh
  • Jasanpreet Singh
  • Manroop Singh
  • Rajbir Singh
  • Upinderjit Singh

The total charges against them amount to 344, covering multiple counts of theft and possession of stolen property. Discussions regarding the possible deportation of some suspects are underway with the Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency.
