The Switzer Learning Center, a nonpublic school for students with learning differences, became the scene of violence when a former student attacked staff members. The suspect attempted to harm a fourth staff member before escaping. Following the attack, Torrance Police apprehended the suspect without further incident. Authorities discovered a backpack and knife near the school premises.

Bomb Threat Investigation

During arrest, the suspect claimed to have placed two pipe bombs near 208 Street and Amapola Avenue. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad was deployed to inspect the area. As of 10:30 a.m., no explosive devices were found.
