On October 8, 2023, On Holding, co-founded by tennis legend Roger Federer, hosted its second annual event titled “Tribute to Every Match” in Shanghai. This occasion honored the unsung heroes of Chinese tennis while showcasing the newly renovated tennis courts at the Xuhui District No. 1 Junior Amateur Sports School, known as the Youth Sports School.
A prominent figure recognized during the event was Liu Yunzhi, an 83-year-old veteran who has significantly contributed to the development of tennis in China. Liu transitioned from being a professional player to a referee and later took on the role of head of tennis court engineering. Over 27 years, Liu and his team have constructed and renovated more than 4,000 professional tennis courts, creating iconic courts for events like the Shanghai Masters tournament.
Celebrating Grassroots Tennis
The renovation of the Youth Sports School’s tennis courts aims to support grassroots tennis development. Federer was invited to hit the ceremonial “first ball,” which he personally signed, marking a memorable moment for attendees. He also played with young local players, sharing his tennis expertise and passion.
Following the event, Federer engaged with fans at Shanghai’s iapm mall, fostering a vibrant atmosphere. This year marks the second consecutive year that On Holding has organized the “Tribute to Every Match” event in China. Looking ahead to 2024, Federer plans to inspire young players from the Yunnan Wild Elephant Tennis Club to chase their dreams with courage.
Xintiandi Dongtai Li Car Festival
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the launch of the Xintiandi community brand, the Xintiandi Car Festival took place from September 29 to October 6, 2023. This festival, hosted in the landmark area’s 6,500-square-meter skylight dome, showcased over 50 rare vintage sports cars, creating a ‘mobile museum’ experience.

- Nearly 50 cultural food stalls created a car-themed market.

On October 9, 2023, Shanghai Fashion Week launched the “Citywide Runway” mode, emphasizing local design under the theme “Expanding Boundaries • Redefining.” Key highlights included:
- Five major fashion shows featuring both Chinese and international brands.
- The New World Autumn/Winter Fashion Season with nearly 10 “See Now, Buy Now” shows.
- The Leihu Pioneer Fashion Art Festival celebrating its 20th season.
Acclaimed brands, including H&M and jnby by JNBY, used this platform to unveil new collections, while various exhibitions highlighted emerging talents and established designers alike. The event’s collaboration with Douyin featured a trend show showcasing innovative designs.
Outstanding Performance of K11 During National Day
During the National Day Golden Week, K11’s shopping malls saw a remarkable 23% increase in sales year-on-year. Particularly, jewelry and gold boutiques experienced a striking growth of 45%.
Highlights from the celebrations included a record-breaking visitor turnout at the Guangzhou Hanxi K11 Shopping Art Center and vibrant art exhibitions across locations. K11 ECOAST in Shenzhen emerged as a cultural hotspot, attracting around 150,000 visitors daily during the festivities, bolstered by interactive and artistic events that redefined traditional Chinese culture.
