Titans Dismiss Brian Callahan in 2025 NFL Season’s First Coaching Change

The Tennessee Titans have made the first coaching change of the 2025 NFL season by dismissing head coach Brian Callahan. The decision follows a disappointing start to the season, with the team holding a 1-5 record after a 20-10 loss to the Raiders. Callahan, who joined the Titans in his second season, leaves with a record of 4-19.

Titans’ Struggles Under Brian Callahan

After the recent loss, Callahan expressed his dissatisfaction, particularly with rookie quarterback Cam Ward. Selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, Ward is completing 55% of his passes, amassing 1,101 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions across six games.

Despite winning against the Cardinals 22-21, thanks to a fortunate fumble by Emari Demercado, the Titans continue to face challenges.

Leadership Response to the Change

Titans president of football operations, Chad Brinker, emphasized the need for growth and consistency. “Our players, fans, and community deserve a football team that achieves a standard we are not currently meeting, and we are committed to making the hard decisions necessary to reach and maintain that standard,” he noted.

Upcoming Game Against the Patriots

The Titans are set to face former head coach Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots in Week 7. The team hopes to improve its strategies and performance under new coaching direction.

Reflecting on Callahan’s Tenure

Before taking the helm at Tennessee, Callahan served as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals for five seasons. His tenure included a Super Bowl LVI appearance four seasons ago. Callahan’s father, Bill, a former Raiders head coach, currently works as the Titans’ offensive line coach.
