Brewers and Dodgers Revamp Bullpens Ahead of Exciting NLCS Showdown

Oct 13, 2025 — The Milwaukee Brewers have made notable adjustments to their bullpen for the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Brewers excluded right-hander Nick Mears, who participated in 63 relief appearances during the regular season. Instead, Tobias Myers joins the roster, marking a change from the lineup used against the Chicago Cubs in the NL Division Series.
Brewers Revise Bullpen Strategy
Game 1 of the NLCS is scheduled for Monday in Milwaukee. Mears, who recorded a 5-3 record with a 3.49 ERA this season, contributed a scoreless 1 2/3 innings in the NLDS. Conversely, Myers, with a 1-2 record and a 3.55 ERA over 22 appearances, steps into the spotlight. Last season, he achieved a 9-6 record with a 3.00 ERA in his rookie year and was instrumental in the Wild Card Series against the New York Mets.
Dodgers Adjustments for NLCS
The Dodgers have also revamped their bullpen lineup, adding right-hander Ben Casparius. Dalton Rushing, who appeared in one NLDS at-bat, was left out. Additionally, left-hander Justin Wrobleski maintains his position in relief duties, filling in for Tanner Scott. Scott, who underwent surgery due to an abscess from an infection, became ineligible for the NLCS after being replaced in the NLDS.
- Nick Mears: 5-3, 3.49 ERA, 63 relief appearances
- Tobias Myers: 1-2, 3.55 ERA, 22 appearances
- Ben Casparius: 7-5, 4.64 ERA, 46 appearances
Notably absent from Milwaukee’s roster is two-time All-Star Brandon Woodruff, who is still recovering from a right lat strain. Meanwhile, Casparius, who had a 4.64 ERA in 46 appearances this season, aims to replicate his previous postseason success. Last year, he had a 1.42 ERA in 6 1/3 postseason innings, including 4 1/3 scoreless innings in the NLCS, aiding the Dodgers’ World Series ambitions.
Both teams’ roster revisions underline the strategic adjustments as they gear up for a potentially thrilling NLCS showdown.
