Lions Add Super Bowl-Winning Cornerback to Practice Squad and Waive Veteran Safety

The Detroit Lions have reinforced their practice squad by signing veteran cornerback Kendall Fuller. Fuller, a Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs, is expected to bolster the Lions’ secondary. Having last played for Miami Dolphins in 2024, the 30-year-old has not been active this season.
Lions Sign Super Bowl-Winning Cornerback
Kendall Fuller, a Virginia Tech alum, joined the NFL as a third-round draft pick. He started his career with Washington, where he secured four interceptions in his sophomore year. In 2018, he moved to the Chiefs as part of a trade involving QB Alex Smith. Fuller’s first season with Kansas City was impressive, racking up 82 tackles, 12 pass defenses, and two interceptions over 15 games.
Notable Career Achievements
- Super Bowl Champion with Kansas City Chiefs in 2019.
- Eleven starts for Miami Dolphins last season.
- Former member of Washington, traded in a major deal.
The Lions have recently been dealing with injuries in their secondary, with players like Terrion Arnold, D.J. Reed, Avonte Maddox, Khalil Dorsey, and Ennis Rakestraw on the sidelines. To address this, they signed fellow veteran cornerback, Tre Flowers, a few weeks prior, who has already made his debut for Detroit.
Lions Waive Loren Strickland and Make Other Moves
In a series of roster changes, the Lions also waived safety Loren Strickland on Tuesday. Originally signed from the practice squad on October 1, Strickland participated in special teams play against Cincinnati. If he clears waivers, he may return to the Lions’ practice squad.
Practice Squad Adjustments
The Lions also reinstated OL Kingsley Eguakun and DL Chris Smith to their practice squad. Both players have a history with Detroit, having been part of the team for their entire careers. They were released last week to accommodate signings against the Kansas City Chiefs.
As the team continues to adjust their lineup, Detroit fans are hopeful that these changes will lead to a stronger secondary capable of meeting the challenges of the upcoming season.
