Beloved WA Restaurant Makes a Comeback Years After Shutting Down

Truffle Hill, a beloved restaurant in Western Australia, has officially reopened, offering a fresh truffle-centric menu. This reopening marks a significant return for the establishment, which welcomed guests again on September 17.
New Management Team
The restaurant operates under the leadership of venue and hospitality manager Rhiana Bermingham and head chef Marine Faverais. Faverais brings with her experience from a Michelin-star restaurant in France, while Bermingham has extensive industry experience that enriches the dining experience.
Highlighting Local Produce
At Truffle Hill, the star ingredient is the black Perigord truffle, which is grown on-site. Recognized as the largest producer of this delicacy in the Southern Hemisphere, Truffle Hill emphasizes the importance of sourcing local produce.
Menu Highlights
- Truffle and Chicken Pie: The standout menu item, highly popular among diners.
- Scotch Fillet Steak: Sourced from Lake Janis Farm, known for premium jersey cattle.
- Salmon with Beurre Blanc: A delicious offering on the menu.
- Duck Parfait: Chef Bermingham’s personal favorite, showcasing rich flavors.
While truffle features prominently throughout the menu, modifications are available for diners who prefer a lighter truffle flavor. Bermingham stated, “We understand not everyone loves truffle, so some dishes can be made without it.”
Cellar Door and Truffle Tours
In addition to the restaurant, Truffle Hill’s cellar door has reopened, featuring a selection of riesling and sauvignon blanc wines. The venue also practices sustainable truffle harvesting with a trained team of 12 dogs that locate the underground fungi during the truffle season.
During peak harvest times, these dogs find between 50 to 80 kilograms of truffles daily. Interestingly, even after the official season concludes, a truffle dog recently discovered a truffle, showcasing the ongoing allure of this delicacy.
Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, Truffle Hill plans to organize tours during the summer holidays. They will also host a “Meet the Truffle Dogs” event next truffle season, providing an engaging experience for visitors.
With its new menu and commitment to quality local ingredients, Truffle Hill is poised to make a significant mark in the culinary scene once again.
