Nissan announces recall of over 173000 US vehicles due to fuel pump problem

Nissan has announced a recall of 173,301 vehicles in the U.S. due to a fuel pump issue that could cause engine stalling. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem involves blown fuel pump fuses.

Affected Models

The recall affects the following models produced by Nissan:

  • 2013-2021 Nissan NV200 Van
  • 2014-2017, 2019 Nissan NV200 Taxi
  • 2015-2018 Chevrolet City Express

Issue Details

The root of the issue is linked to fuel tank temperature sensor harnesses. These may be incorrectly routed, potentially damaging wires and resulting in a short circuit within the fuel pump fuse. This defect increases the risk of the engine stalling unexpectedly.

Previous Recalls

This recall follows a previous one by Nissan in the U.S., which involved 443,899 vehicles due to engine failure problems.

This new recall once again highlights the importance of vehicle safety and the efforts taken by automakers to address potential issues as swiftly as possible.
