MAGA Rep Dave Taylor Under Investigation After Swastika Flag Found in Office

An investigation is underway after a swastika flag was discovered in the office of Republican congressman Dave Taylor. Taylor, associated with former President Trump, announced he is working with Capitol Police to probe the incident. The flag, displaying red and white swastika patterns, was visible during a virtual session in Taylor’s office, as reported by POLITICO.
Response and Condemnation
Ohio Representative Taylor expressed his disapproval of the symbol, emphasizing it does not align with his or his office’s principles. In a statement on his website, Taylor condemned the appearance of such imagery, which he labeled as “deeply inappropriate.”
Ongoing Investigation
Taylor, who assumed office in January, confirmed that no further statements would be issued until the investigation concludes. The swastika’s proximity to Angelo Elia, one of Taylor’s employees, sparked curiosity. However, any link between Elia and the flag remains uncertain. Efforts to contact Elia for comments have not yielded responses.
Related Discoveries
The incident followed a leaked Telegram chat within Republican circles, revealing numerous racist remarks. The chat contained 251 derogatory terms, including slurs and a troubling declaration of admiration for Hitler. POLITICO disclosed that the texts featured “Young Republican” leaders nationwide. Furthermore, Peter Giunta, the ex-vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans, was notably active in distributing such messages.
Items like a pocket Constitution and a congressional calendar were also noticed near the flag. This investigation, coupled with the leaked chat, raises significant concerns about behavior within certain Republican sectors.
