Legendary darts commentators to bid farewell at iconic Ally Pally event
In a significant shift for the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), two legendary figures will retire following the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship. John McDonald, the celebrated Master of Ceremonies, and George Noble, a highly respected referee, will mark the end of their distinguished careers at this iconic event held at Ally Pally.
John McDonald: A Voice of PDC Darts
John McDonald has been a central figure in PDC tournaments since 2007. He took on the role after Phil Jones, contributing to events like The Showdown in 2004 and the Premier League. McDonald is known for his unique style, creating a memorable atmosphere at matches.
The former member of the Parachute Regiment began his career in sports as a boxing MC and later covered various sports, including snooker and pool. “After two decades with the PDC, I’ve loved every moment,” McDonald expressed. George Noble: A Respected Referee
Alongside McDonald, George Noble will hang up his whistle after nearly 20 years with the PDC. Noble is greatly respected in the darts community and has previously led the refereeing team for the British Darts Organisation (BDO).
