Speeding Audi Fails to Escape Forest County Deputies After Deer Crash

A high-speed chase involving a speeding Audi unfolded in Forest County, Wisconsin, resulting in the arrest of an 18-year-old Langlade County resident.
High-Speed Pursuit on Highway 55
The incident began just after 6:30 a.m. when an off-duty deputy reported a blue Audi with a “very loud exhaust” speeding north on Highway 55, overtaking vehicles in no-passing zones.
Chase Reaches Extreme Speeds
An on-duty deputy soon spotted the vehicle near County Highway S. As they attempted to intercept, the Audi accelerated further, reaching speeds of over 110 miles per hour.
The driver, identified as Mason Spray from Deerbrook, turned off the headlights, attempting to evade capture during the early morning hours.
Deer Collision Disables Patrol Car
The chase intensified when a second deputy joined the pursuit. However, their vehicle collided with a deer, rendering it inoperable and forcing them out of the chase.
Chase Culminates in Crandon
The pursuit continued onto Highway 8, heading into the town of Crandon. The speeding Audi attempted to reverse course but was eventually cornered in a business parking lot.
Deputies successfully apprehended Mason Spray, who now faces multiple charges related to the incident.

Spray had previously been cited in May for operating while suspended and later pleaded no contest to failing to surrender his license in August.
