Charlie Puth Unveils First Single ‘Whatever’s Clever’ From New Album Embracing Major Changes

Charlie Puth has released his first single, “Changes,” from his forthcoming album, “Whatever’s Clever!” The track showcases a classic Eighties pop sound, featuring distinctive guitar lines, glossy keys, gated snares, and a powerful choir.
Music Video Inspirations
The music video for “Changes,” directed by Charlotte Rutherford, echoes the aesthetics of the pre-digital era. It’s filled with claymation figures and stop-motion animation, capturing Puth in a playful world. Notably, Brooke Sansone, Puth’s wife, appears in the video, sparking rumors of impending parenthood. This clue is hinted at with a subtle touch on Sansone’s belly, suggesting major life changes for the couple.
Album Production and Release
The album, “Whatever’s Clever!” is scheduled for release on March 6, 2026, under Atlantic Records. Puth co-produced the record with BloodPop, a renowned producer known for collaborations with artists like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
Performance and Future Plans
“Whatever’s Clever!” marks Puth’s fourth album and his first since the 2022 release of “Charlie.” Although the complete tracklist remains undisclosed, it’s confirmed that “Changes” will be included. Fans await whether other singles like “That’s Not How This Works,” “Lipstick,” and “Hero” will also feature.
In anticipation of the album, Puth performed “Changes” along with other new songs at a New York residency last month. The event took place over four nights at the Blue Note Jazz Club, one featuring a guest appearance by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Puth is set to continue another residency at the Blue Note in Los Angeles from October 16 to 19.
