Samuel Bird’s remains were found in a rural area outside Edmonton. The gruesome discovery follows his disappearance on June 1, shortly after he left his home to visit a friend.

In connection with Samuel’s death, 38-year-old Bryan Farrell was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He faces additional charges for:

  • Interfering with a body
  • Aggravated assault
  • Arson to property endangering human life
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon

Details of the Disappearance

Samuel Bird, a member of the Paul First Nation, was last seen on surveillance footage at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 1. He was walking near Holy Cross School before visiting a friend’s home located near 150th Street and 106th Avenue.

Police executed a search warrant at the friend’s residence in September as part of the investigation. Earlier this month, authorities categorized the case as criminal, indicating their belief that Samuel had met with foul play.

Investigation Conclusion

Detective Jared Buhler, the primary investigator from the EPS homicide section, expressed hope that this development would provide some closure for Samuel’s family and friends. “After a lengthy and complex investigation, we are pleased to conclude this case and hope to bring resolution and justice,” Buhler stated.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Samuel Bird’s tragic death continues, as authorities strive to gather more information.
