Hangzhou Prepares to Host the Exciting Third Liangzhu Forum

The vibrant city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang province is gearing up to host the Third Liangzhu Forum this Saturday. The forum, spotlighting the “Revitalization of Civilization: Cultural Heritage and Human Culture Diversity,” is attracting around 400 experts and scholars. Participants include renowned figures from the fields of archaeology, museology, and cultural heritage protection.

Main Forum and Sub-Forums

The event will feature a main forum and four sub-forums. The main forum’s opening ceremony will be graced by leaders from China’s culture and tourism authorities, alongside representatives from UNESCO and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This marks the first time these UN organization heads will attend the forum.

Supporting Activities

The forum will also include diverse supporting activities. Highlights are the book project symposium “A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings,” a cultural creative market, and musical performances by the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra. The China (Hangzhou) International Biennale of Art and Technology and an exhibition of Chinese and Arabic calligraphy will further enrich the event.

Best Tourism Villages 2025 Awards

On Friday, the UNWTO will hold the Best Tourism Villages 2025 award ceremony in Anji county, Huzhou. This award, initiated in 2021, celebrates villages that utilize tourism for preserving landscapes, cultural practices, and ecological and culinary diversity. China proudly lists 15 villages among awardees, including Yucun village in Anji, Xiajiang village in Chun’an, and Xitou village in Longquan.

Co-Hosting Organizations

The Third Liangzhu Forum is co-hosted by several esteemed organizations. These include the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Cultural Heritage Administration, and the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government. Their joint efforts underscore the forum’s significance in promoting cultural exchanges and heritage conservation.
