The Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial Challenge has launched, providing excitement for racing enthusiasts. This event runs for two weeks and offers participants a chance to earn up to 2 million credits, depending on their performance compared to global leaders.

Overview of the Online Time Trial Challenge

This latest challenge features Gr.2 category cars competing on the full Autopolis International course. Participants must use Racing Soft tires and can select from ten available Gr.2 cars. The event showcases a mix of competitors from various racing categories.

Competing Cars

  • Three 2016 GT500 class Super GT cars from Honda, Lexus, and Nissan
  • Three equivalent cars from the 2008 season
  • A 2019 Class 1 Audi from DTM
  • Three classic Le Mans cars from different regulations

The competition is dominated by the 2016 GT500 cars, particularly the Honda NSX. Currently, the world record for the event stands at 1:30.789, set with a GT-R. The gold time is 1:33.426, but aiming for a safer target of 1:33.2 is recommended for competitors.

Previous Event Results

Prior to this challenge, the Mazda Spirit Racing Roadster 12R event is ongoing. The current world record is 1:46.861, established by professional racer Igor Fraga, with only two drivers achieving times in the 1:46 range.

Entry Requirements

To participate in the Online Time Trials, players must unlock Sport Mode by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe. It’s important to note that PlayStation Plus is not required for this challenge since it is time-based and not a head-to-head competition.

Credit Rewards

Competitors aiming for the top must achieve close times to the fastest globally. The rewards are structured as follows:

  • Gold Status (within 3% of the fastest time) – 2 million credits
  • Silver Status (within 5%) – 1 million credits
  • Bronze Status (within 10%) – 250,000 credits
