Avoid These 16 Cinnamon Brands Due to High Lead Levels in Spice Blends

In a recent public health alert, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has flagged several cinnamon products due to high lead levels. This concern first arose in March 2024 and has since expanded to include multiple brands.

Cinnamon Brands Under FDA Alert for Lead Contamination

Initially, six cinnamon brands were identified by the FDA for having elevated lead levels. Since then, additional brands have joined the list. Just last week, four more brands were added to the health alert, further exacerbating consumer concerns.

Newest Additions

  • HAETAE Ground Cinnamon
  • Roshni Ground Cinnamon
  • Durra Ground Cinnamon
  • Wise Wife

The HAETAE and Roshni brands were included in the alert on October 10. Even though a formal recall wasn’t issued for these two, the FDA strongly recommends disposing of these products.

  • Asli’s Cinnamon Powder
  • El Chilar’s Ground Cinnamon

The FDA emphasizes that consuming cinnamon with high lead levels poses health risks. The extent of health effects varies with lead levels, consumer age, and other factors. Emegypt advises consumers to stay informed and check the FDA’s website for updates on this issue.
