Revealed Top Perth Suburbs Expecting Heavy Rainfall This Weekend

Perth is bracing for a significant rainfall event this weekend, interrupting many residents’ plans. The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) predicts a 50% chance of showers on Saturday, with the heaviest rainfall expected on Sunday. Rainfall amounts could reach between 5mm to 10mm over the weekend.
Rainfall Forecast for Perth
BoM meteorologist Jessica Lingard highlighted that a cold front will enter the South West region on Friday. This front will bring initial showers, particularly in the southern suburbs, where 1mm to 3mm of rain is anticipated on Saturday morning. Lingard noted, “A second cold front will follow, expected to deliver more substantial rainfall.”
Expected Rainfall Amounts
- Saturday: 1mm to 3mm primarily in southern suburbs.
- Sunday:
- Southern suburbs: 5mm to 10mm
- Northern suburbs: 4mm to 8mm
- Monday: An additional 3mm to 8mm expected.
This weather pattern is forecasted to continue into Monday, with clearer skies predicted by Tuesday, allowing temperatures to gradually improve.
October Rainfall Trends
Despite the heavy weekend rains, October rainfall has been below normal, with just 20mm recorded thus far, compared to the long-term average of 40mm. This trend aligns with a notable statistic: 2023 has seen 32 rainy days on weekends, constituting a record for Perth.
Heatwave Warning in Northern WA
While Perth faces heavy rains, a severe heatwave warning applies to northern regions of Western Australia, particularly in the Kimberley and inland areas. Temperatures in these regions may reach the mid-40s during the day, with nights in the high 20s.
This forecast indicates conditions 10 to 12 degrees above the seasonal average. Lingard recommends precautions for anyone outdoors during peak heat, including staying shaded, hydrating frequently, and taking breaks.
