Discover Which Perth Suburbs Will Experience Significant Rainfall This Weekend

Perth is set to experience a significant rainfall event this weekend, affecting local plans. The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has forecasted a 50% chance of showers on Saturday, with heavier rains expected on Sunday.

Rainfall Forecast for Perth

The anticipated rainfall varies across the region. Initial showers will begin with a cold front entering the South West on Friday. Meteorologist Jessica Lingard detailed potential rainfall amounts:

  • Saturday: Southern suburbs may receive 1mm to 3mm.
  • Sunday:
    • Southern suburbs: 5mm to 10mm
    • Northern suburbs: 4mm to 8mm
  • Monday: An additional 3mm to 8mm expected.

October Rainfall Trends

Despite the heavy rains forecasted for the weekend, October’s rainfall has been below normal levels. So far, only 20mm has been recorded, considerably less than the long-term average of 40mm.

Interestingly, 2023 has marked a record with 32 rainy weekends in Perth, which shows a significant trend for the city.

Heatwave Warning in Northern WA

While Perth prepares for rain, a heatwave alert is in effect for northern parts of Western Australia, especially the Kimberley and inland regions. Temperatures in these areas could soar into the mid-40s during the day, with nights remaining in the high 20s.

This heatwave indicates temperatures 10 to 12 degrees above the seasonal average. Lingard advises those outdoors to take precautions, such as staying in shaded areas, drinking plenty of water, and taking regular breaks.
