Grande Prairie Legion Seeks Remembrance Day Artwork Contributions from Schoolchildren

The Grande Prairie branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is seeking contributions for Remembrance Day artwork from schoolchildren. Due to a recent teacher’s strike, the Legion has reported a decline in submissions of posters, poems, and essays.
Background on Remembrance Day Artwork Contributions
Every year, students participate by submitting their creative works related to the theme of remembrance. The chosen pieces receive recognition and awards during the Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11.
Current Situation
This year, however, the Royal Canadian Legion has not received any entries. To encourage participation, they have made entry forms and guidelines available on their social media platforms.
How to Participate
Schoolchildren are invited to get involved in this important commemorative event by creating their own pieces of art, poetry, or essays focused on remembrance.
Fundraising Efforts
In addition to the call for submissions, the downtown Co-op is hosting a fundraiser for the Legion today, October 17. The fundraiser will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing the community with an opportunity to support the Legion while promoting awareness for Remembrance Day.
