The men’s team is slated to compete in the 16th Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin. This prestigious event, held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, features 17 ranked opponents including Iowa State, New Mexico, and Colorado. The men’s ‘A’ Championship 8K Race starts at 12:30 p.m. with Tulane represented by Bernard Cheruiyot and others, while the ‘B’ Race kicks off earlier at 10:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, the women’s team will participate in the 2025 Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Park. The 6K race starts at 9:20 a.m., showcasing athletes like Dorcas Naibei and Blezzin Kimutai from Tulane. Competing teams include ranked schools such as Alabama and South Carolina.
Rising in National Rankings
Both Tulane teams have improved in the NCAA rankings. The men’s team has advanced to 17th nationally after an outstanding 11th place finish at the Gans Creek Classic, while maintaining their top position in the South Central Regional. Similarly, the women’s team moved up to 25th nationally, reinforcing their regional dominance.
Notable Performances and Honors
Tulane’s season is highlighted by several accomplishments. Bernard Cheruiyot has been honored as the men’s runner of the week twice. Dorcas Naibei received a similar accolade for women’s athletes in late September.
Gans Creek Classic Highlights
- The men’s team secured 11th place out of 32 teams, with Bernard Cheruiyot leading with a remarkable time of 22:32.4.
- The women’s team finished 14th, almost making it into the top 15, led by Blezzin Kimutai and Dorcas Naibei.
Upcoming Challenges
With a strong season unfolding, Tulane’s next target is the American Athletic Conference Championship on November 1 in Concord, North Carolina.
