Own the Iconic Jaguar Driven by Rowan Atkinson in Netflix’s Man Vs. Bee

The 1963 Series I Jaguar E-Type, famously driven by Rowan Atkinson in the Netflix series “Man vs. Bee,” is currently available for auction through Iconic Auctioneers. This notable vehicle is in a vastly improved condition compared to its on-screen appearance.

About “Man vs. Bee”

Released in 2022, “Man vs. Bee” features Rowan Atkinson as Trevor Bingley. Bingley is house-sitting for a wealthy couple in a luxurious mansion filled with valuable artwork. Unfortunately, his efforts are continually disrupted by a persistent bee.

In the eighth episode, the Jaguar plays a crucial role as Bingley drives it across town with the couple’s sick dog. This scene leads to the car suffering significant damage, including a broken rear window and other structural impairments.

The Jaguar E-Type’s Auction Details

This 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8-Litre Coupé, known as chassis #2 with registration 9600 HP, was Jaguar’s first car introduced at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. After its initial presentation, the vehicle spent some time in the United States before being returned to the UK in 1989.

Restoration and Condition

After being repatriated, the Jaguar underwent a comprehensive restoration, which included:

  • Conversion back to right-hand drive
  • New Opalescent Gunmetal Grey paint
  • Upgrades to the interior, including new seats and carpeting
  • Installation of an SS exhaust system for enhanced performance

While the original engine block remains, several components have been updated over the years to maintain its functionality.

Expected Auction Outcome

This iconic Jaguar E-Type is offered at auction without a reserve price. Given its historical significance and previous sale prices for similar models exceeding $1 million USD, it’s anticipated that the final bid could reach a substantial amount. The auction is set for November 8 in the UK.
