Collingwood’s American Pie Player Reflects on His Journey

Cox joined Collingwood ahead of the 2015 season after impressing at a U.S. International combine in Los Angeles. Other clubs, including North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Richmond, and Fremantle, showed interest, but he chose the Magpies as his new home in Australia.

In his emotional farewell message, Cox expressed gratitude for the support he’s received during his time at the club. He reminisced about his journey, stating, “From a kid who came over from the U.S. with no idea what AFL even was to hearing the ‘U-S-A’ chant echo through 100,000 at the ‘G’—it’s been an unbelievable journey.”
