Long-Term Paid Parking May Soon Land at Vero Beach Regional Airport

Vero Beach Regional Airport is gearing up for increased air traffic by introducing new measures. With the arrival of two additional airlines, parking solutions are becoming a priority for local officials.
Upcoming Airlines and Destinations
Breeze Airways, the long-time air service provider at Vero Beach, is set to be joined by new competitors. JetBlue is launching flights to New York and Boston on December 11. Furthermore, American Airlines will start its operation to Charlotte on February 12, 2024. The introduction of these airlines is expected to boost air traffic significantly.
Addressing Parking Challenges at Vero Beach Airport
The rise in travelers has led to parking concerns at Vero Beach Regional Airport. This particularly impacts patrons of venues like C.J. Cannon’s Restaurant and Lounge. To combat this, a new employee-only parking area will be set up in the existing long-term Lot A, which hosts 54 spots.
Enforcement and Compliance
Starting November, the airport will enforce a three-hour limit in short-term lots. This is expected to free up 40-45 spaces daily, improving short-term parking availability.
Long-Term Paid Parking Plans
- The City Council plans to lease airport property for paid long-term parking development.
- On October 17, the Airport Commission will discuss proposals with interested companies.
- City officials aim to transition smoothly from free to paid parking while ensuring competitive pricing.
Airport Director Todd Scher emphasized the need for long-term solutions. “It’s probably inevitable further down the road,” he stated during an October 14 City Council meeting.
Ensuring a Seamless Transition
As the airport evolves with increased flights and improved facilities, the focus remains on maintaining user satisfaction. Providing adequate parking solutions is integral to achieving this goal, ensuring the airport can handle future demand.
