Sheffield Wednesday Match Day Guide Essential Tips and Insights

Sheffield Wednesday is set to face Charlton Athletic at The Valley this Saturday. The match kicks off at 3 PM BST, marking the return of Nathan Jones’ team to their home ground after a three-week absence. Following a convincing 3-0 victory against Blackburn Rovers in their last home game, a large crowd is expected. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid long queues.

Red, White, and Black Day Parade

A highlight of the day will be the Red, White, and Black Day parade. Over 500 students from local schools and community groups are scheduled to participate in this event. Celebrating unity and inclusiveness, this annual parade has been a cornerstone of the club’s identity for more than 30 years.

  • The parade is organized in collaboration with the Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) and the University of Greenwich.
  • It will start at Charlton Station and end at The Valley.
  • Paul Elliott CBE MBE, the club’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Lead, will lead the procession.

Mark Kinsella’s Recognition

Former player Mark Kinsella will be honored before kickoff. Kinsella, a fan favorite, played for the Addicks from 1996 to 2002, making 223 appearances and scoring 23 goals. He notably captained the team to victory in the 1998 play-off final against Sunderland and lifted the Division One title in the 1999/00 season. Fans are encouraged to take their seats early to show appreciation for his contributions to the club.

New Big Screen and Facilities

Saturday’s match will also debut a new big screen at The Valley. This screen is larger and features improved resolution compared to the previous model. Although there has been a slight delay in the installation of new LED digiboards, they are expected to be ready soon.

Fan Zone Experience

The Fan Zone, located in the West Stand Car Park, will open its doors at noon. Here, supporters can enjoy a range of food and drink options while soaking up the pre-match atmosphere. The SOCKGOAL activation will also be available for fans.

  • The Fan Zone and Meantime Fans’ Bar will stay open for one hour after the match ends.
  • Perkalicious’ coffee bike will serve beverages throughout the season.

Please remember that access to the Fan Zone requires a home match ticket.
